Launch Party Success

It is with great pleasure that we can announce the Zero Calorie Advent Calendar is back for the second year in a row. The fabulous From Snickers to Marathon and Diary of a Dashing Fashionista, and PT Mollie are joining forces again for an improved calendar this year. Based on your feedback, we are offering shorter posts, video workouts, and in-person events for our community to get together this holiday season. We hope to make it a little easier for you to enjoy December without feeling guilty for attending holiday ‘dos and having the occasional eggnog latte.

We launched the calendar last Thursday with our gracious hosts at lululemon’s Covent Garden showroom. Good Gym took 16 of the gang out for a short run to Somerset House where we performed various tasks of manual labor. Make-versity is setting up community space there so we helped clear out old radiator covers and carpet tiles. We then had a little 1.8km race in antlers and Santa hats over Millennium Bridge, followed by a nice jog back to Covent Garden for some bubbles and snacks.

Several of the personal trainers, fitness studios, and health product brands involved with this year’s calendar were on hand to talk about their services and meet our readers.

Zero Calorie Advent Calendar Goody Bags

Our goody bags were chock full with samples and offers from Zico, Bounce Balls, Creative Nature, Tempo Pilates, Powertone Studios, Thinking Slimmer, lululemon, Good Vibes, House of Coffee, Total Greek Yogurt, as well as a candy cane or two. Hopefully everyone who got a bag is on Santa’s ‘nice’ list this year. We gave attendees the benefit of the doubt and didn’t have any coal on hand.

Many people brought in donations for A Mile In Her Shoes, the featured charity of the 2013 calendar. We almost filled an entire fitting room with kit. This group is collecting used trainer, sport bras, and other running clothes for homeless women. A few run clubs are popping up in conjunction with Crisis centres for women who are trying to get back on their feet. Rather than charge an advertising fee, businesses involved with ZCAC are asked to donate £50 to AMIHS. Personal trainers whose workouts we feature will be donating kit or their time. AMIHS could use more volunteers to help out at run clubs. if you’d like to get involved email

AMIHS also ran a photobooth competition to win one of their very limited edition running jackets, asking everyone to tweet their ‘Finish Line Pose’.

The enthusiasm and social media response to both the calendar and charity have been fantastic. Our aim is to offer you tips and suggestions to balance life this holiday season. Use the calendar as a resource when you are pressed for time, as well as getting yourself a little something at an amazing discount. We can’t tell you all the brands involved yet, so you will need to keep checking back each day in December as we open another door in the countdown to 25 December. Our first on person event is 5 December at Good Vibes Studio with 2 yoga classes (space limited).  On 12  December Powertone Studios are offering a day of 25 min Power Plate classes and Mollie will be leading a special festive run club from their studio that evening. Last but not least, we have an indoor cycling class at Boom! Cycling Studio on 19 December. Book in to on of these events and get in the holiday spirit with the Zero Calorie Advent Calendar. More information - including details of how to sign up! - will be posted as soon we confirm them. Keep checking back here for the latest news!
